2a. Accept that with the right to own, manage, and use natural resources comes the duty to prevent environmental harm and to protect the rights of people.

I believe that business can be a powerful force in addressing the greatest issues that face humanity. However, business must be driven by a profound purpose and must be democratic in structure, a true partnership between all stakeholders. No partnership can be dominated by one partner, because it’s not a partnership, and ultimately all interests are best served if the interests of all are balanced rather than prioritised.

The issues that we face are truly immense. Reduction of impact is not enough - being less unsustainable is still not sustainable – so we need a more meaningful goal. We want to ensure that everything that we do is a step towards the elimination of the environmental impact of personal transport.

Being less unsustainable is still not sustainable

Riversimple is a UK-based company working on practical solutions for sustainable mobility. Using inclusive governance and open source technologies, Riversimple aims to commercialise hydrogen cars with an integrated approach to the needs of all parties relevant to, and affected by, personal mobility, including users, suppliers, investors, staff and the environment.

The company will provide mobility as a service - not a car as a product - with users paying rental and mileage charges, aligning the company’s interest with longevity and low running costs rather than obsolescence and high running costs.
